Well, the day before I put on my JRSC on my 94 civic ex, I filled my tank up with 93 octane. While leaving, I felt a power loss at WOT. Don't know if just a "bad batch" caused that. Well, ever since I had the blower on(and using 93 octane)the car has felt the same. Whenever I am lightly accelerating I feel some power. If I step on it, it almost feels stock. Should I try a little of the 89 octane? I know my little 1.6 isn't made for higher octane fuels like GSR's are.
BTW, can't hear any knockin' or pingin'with my timing still at stock? Is this possible?

About two years ago, when I had the SC installed in my Civic, I definately remember a big difference in power, not g-pulling force type of power, but nonetheless noticable difference. So your situation does sound weird. Right after install, I remember them forgetting to retard timing (10 degrees BTC?) and was suffering from detonation. So you should refer to install instructions and retard timing.
Also, you're lucky enough to have access to 93 octane, highest available for me is 92. With the higher octane, you MAY be able to advance the timing 1 or 2 degrees from the JR recommendation without detonation. Someone correct if I'm wrong, but I think JR says 92 octane minimum mandatory on both SC'd 1.6 and 1.8 motors.
Hope this helps.
Adrian.

Yep, 92 Octane and above. All my cars only see Shell 93 Octane(2 Civs and a Cherokee Limited). I'm currently running a safe 8deg on my SC EG. Try running some injector cleaner or fuel system cleaner the next few fill-ups. Plus change out your fuel filter. Hope that helps. Let us know.
